Burgh-By-Sands and Around

Today, Burgh by Sands is a peaceful village with a living and thriving community building for the future. The success of the community was recognized with the village winning the award as ‘The Village of the Year’ for Northern England in 2003.

Burgh provides a good base for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers of all types. Two long distance footpaths pass through the village—The Hadrian’s Wall Path and The Cumbrian Coastal Way and there are numerous local trails and footpaths. The village also lies on two National Cycle Routes—Route 72 Hadrian’s Cycleway and Route 10 Reivers Route.

Food and drink can be found in the village at The Greyhound pub which is just 300 yards from Rosemount Cottage. There are numerous pubs, tearooms and restaurants within easy reach in the surrounding towns and villages
